Over the course of the project, the FIELD team has generated a series of outputs from research undertaken with farmers, advisors and consumers, analysis of cattle movement data, and archival investigations. They include academic papers, research summary briefs and a timeline of key events in British agriculture since 1947. These can be found under ‘Resources’, together with stories, drawings and photographs produced by our three artists-in-residence as part of our public engagement programme (FIELDS).

Timeline
How have livestock production practices changed? Who or what has influenced these changes? You can explore these questions and others in a timeline of key events in British agricultural history from the early 20th century onwards. It was constructed by the FIELD project historians with support from colleagues at the Museum of English Rural Life, who helped with research and provided visual images. The timeline provides insights into the research, policy and wider socio-cultural factors that have shaped, and continue to shape, British farming. Explore the timeline here.
Stories
FIELDS is a set of stories created from working with photographic, film and audio archives, academic and artist research, and interviews. FIELDS traces the personal and social histories of cows, sheep and farmers and formed the public engagement strand of the project. Explore FIELDS.
